Goal: Explain the logic of who does what within a document.
What are Roles?
Roles are placeholders used in templates to define who needs to interact with the document. When you move from a Template to a Document, you assign a real person (and their email) to that Role.
Recipient Permission Levels
When adding a recipient, you can choose what they are allowed to do:
Signer: Can fill out assigned fields and legally sign the document.
CC (View Only): Receives a copy of the document for their records but cannot edit or sign.
Approver: Must review and "green-light" the document before it is sent to the final signer (available on Business and Enterprise plans).
Pro-Tip: Signing Order
If you need your Manager to sign after the Client, toggle on Signing Order. This ensures the document follows a specific path and only reaches the next person once the previous one has finished.
